- This new RoRo line enables SUARDIAZ to intensify its operations between France and North Africa
- SUARDIAZ now offers up to 7 monthly rotations between Marseille and Algeria
Marseille, September 2nd 2025 – SUARDIAZ Group, a leader in integrated logistics, has launched a new RoRo line connecting the Port of Marseille with the Port of Djen Djen in Algeria. Operational since September 1, 2025, this is the third line opened by SUARDIAZ between North Africa and the city of Marseille, in addition to its existing services linking Marseille with the Algerian ports of Mostaganem and Skikda.
In 2024, French exports to Algeria increased by 6.6% to reach €4.8 billion. This growth was largely driven by industrial products (40% of French exports, or €1.9 billion) and by strong growth in transport equipment (+28.2%, over €1 billion). Previously served by RoRo vessels, the Algerian market saw the Port of Algiers shift its specialization towards container traffic due to congestion, while RoRo flows were progressively redirected to other ports, such as Mostaganem, notably specialized in vehicles. Meanwhile, the Port of Djen Djen, located in the east of the country, is Algeria’s largest operational port. Spanning 210 hectares, it handles the bulk of the country’s construction materials exports.
Against this backdrop, SUARDIAZ has launched its new RoRo service between Marseille and Djen Djen to expand its logistics offer between France and Algeria. The new line enables the company to operate 6 to 7 monthly rotations between the two countries with a loading capacity of 6,000 linear meters per month. It allows SUARDIAZ to transport various types of cargo between the two regions, including passenger and industrial vehicles, agricultural equipment, as well as construction and lifting machinery.
SUARDIAZ Group states: “France and Algeria are two key markets for SUARDIAZ. The Port of Djen Djen represents a strategic alternative, helping to mitigate the impact of port congestion while adapting to local customs specificities. With this new line, we are providing shippers with an additional solution to secure and expand their trade between France and Algeria, particularly in the automotive and industrial sectors.”
In France, SUARDIAZ operates out of the seaports of Nantes–Saint-Nazaire, Fos-sur-Mer, Marseille, and Le Havre. The company currently owns a fleet of eight RoRo vessels as well as one vessel dedicated to offshore wind operations. It runs six regular lines, including the Marseille–Algeria service, the Atlantic line (Tangier – Vigo – Montoir – Le Havre – Zeebrugge), a direct Vigo–Montoir link, a Barcelona–Canary Islands line, a Vigo–Liverpool service, and the Tangier Med–Huelva route.
Earlier this year, SUARDIAZ also opened an office at Paris–Charles de Gaulle Airport to develop its air freight services from France, complementing those already offered from Lyon Airport.
