This transaction is part of SUARDIAZ Shipping Lines‘ fleet renewal plan, with an investment already exceeding 200 million USD and contributes to the decarbonization of the automotive supply chain
Madrid, 19th November 2024.- SUARDIAZ Shipping Lines, one of the first established RoRo and Car Car Carrier operators in Europe, has concluded a collaboration agreement with EPS (Eastern Pacific Shipping), a leading shipping company committed to the sustainable and technological growth of the sector, to ensure the availability of tonnage to meet the needs of SUARDIAZ’s current and future lines. The first milestone of this agreement is the addition of a brand new dual fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered “PCTC” vessel with a cargo capacity of 5,500 CEUs. Delivery of the newbuilding is scheduled during the second quarter of 2027.
The transaction responds to the fleet renewal plan that SUARDIAZ Shipping Lines has been developing for the last 5 years with an investment already exceeding 200 million USD. As Juan Riva, CEO of SUARDIAZ Group, explains: “We have a firm commitment with our customers to offer an efficient and sustainable service. Therefore, our commitment to vessels like this dual propulsion-LNG carrier means that we are actively contributing to the decarbonisation of the automotive supply chain while responding to the demand for greater cargo.”
Through the addition of this new vessel, the service for historical customers in the automotive sector will be considerably improved. At the same time, the new vessel’s large capacity for vehicles and High & Heavy cargoes will expand the offer for all customers, forwarders and traders from Northern Europe to North Africa and, foreseeably, on other lines according to demand.
Through the addition of this dual fuel LNG-powered PCTC vessel to its fleet, SUARDIAZ Group continues to be a pioneer in Spain. Combined with the earlier purchase of the PCTC vessel m/v Asturias, it is a further demonstration of the company’s commitment to the maritime transport. In total, more than 25,000 trailers, 270,000 vehicles and 85,000 tonnes of machinery and project cargo are transported each year on the current routes.
