With this acquisition, the SUARDIAZ Shipping Lines division continues with its fleet renewal and emissions reduction plan with more efficient and higher capacity vessels to respond to market demand
Madrid, 8th May 2024.- SUARDIAZ Shipping Lines, one of the first RoRo Car Car Carriers in Europe, has added a new vessel to its fleet to operate in the Atlantic corridor connecting Morocco with Northern Europe. The vessel is the m/v Asturias, which has been sailing until now under the name ‘Viking Amber’ and has a cargo capacity of 4,200 CEU.
This operation belongs to the investment plan that SUARDIAZ Shipping Lines has been developing for the last 5 years and that reaches more than 100 million USD. As Juan Riva, CEO of SUARDIAZ Group explains: ‘With the incorporation of the vessel Asturias we continue with our plan to renew our fleet and reduce emissions with vessels of greater efficiency and capacity to respond to market demand’. ‘In this way, we consolidate SUARDIAZ Group’s position in the automotive industry market’.
Thanks to the addition of the new vessel, the service for historical customers such as Stellantis, Toyota or Renault is improved. Likewise, its large capacity for vehicles and High & Heavy improves the offer for all customers, as well as forwarders and traders, from Northern Europe to North Africa.
‘Asturias’ will also be able to provide “short sea” capacity to other shipping lines with connections in the port of Zeebrugge or at any other point within the geographical range of the line with Antwerp, Bremerhaven or Southampton.
The acquisition of a new vessel is a further demonstration of the SUARDIAZ Group’s commitment to its current and future customers by adding this new asset to the SUARDIAZ Shipping Lines division’s owned and long-term chartered vessels (Asturias, L’Audace, Bouzas, Suar Vigo, Mosel Ace, Lake Kivu, Friedrich Russ, Napoli y Mistral).
